2. Story Review and Skills

W1 P3Read Together 2 + Story Review

Lesson Goals

  • To support understanding of weather expressions through story-based reading
  • To connect weather conditions with appropriate clothing choices
  • To build confidence in speaking and shared reading activities

Students will be able to

  • Identify the weather in each story scene using picture cues and spoken sentences
  • Match characters to suitable clothing options (A/B) and say a full sentence explaining the choice
  • Participate in echo and choral reading of key story lines and reactions

1. Warm-Up

Hello Song · “How are you?” · “How’s the weather today?” · Day of the week check

2. Vocabulary Review (Student Book pg 8)

  • Review target vocabulary through actions and explanations.

3. Story time (Student Book pg 13-21)

  • a) Review the story (pg 10-12). Briefly review the reading steps used with Otto in the previous lesson (weather → choice → result). Explain that the same pattern will be used again.
  • b) Read together (pg 13-21). i) pg 13–18: repeat the same steps with the other characters — Roo (it is rainy), Hoggy (it is snowy), Jindo (it is windy).
  • ii) pg 19–21: for the stormy scene, guide students to notice that this weather is different from the previous ones. Explain that when it is stormy, characters do not go outside. Have students choose the option that shows staying inside (pajamas). After turning the page, confirm that staying inside keeps Tigo safe and completes the story.
  • c) Read the story again and have students repeat after the teacher.

4. Activity — Random Outfit Challenge

  • Objective: students review weather vocabulary and appropriate clothing through a fun, story-based activity.
  • Materials (prep required): clothing cards (hot / rainy / snowy / windy sets), character images from the story or the Student Book, a box or bag.
  • a) Show a story scene and review the weather.
  • b) One student reaches into the box and randomly pulls out one clothing card.
  • c) The student places or sticks the clothing on the character.
  • d) The class checks together whether the outfit matches the weather — thumbs up if correct, thumbs down if incorrect.
  • Teacher Tip: do not remove incorrect clothing. Use it to prompt fun reactions and repeated language practice.

5. Wrap-up

  • Review target words with the [Let’s Chant] song, then finish the class with the Goodbye song.
W1 P4Workbook (Story) + Student Book (Skills)

Lesson Goals

  • To strengthen recognition of weather vocabulary
  • To support understanding of weather through a hands-on sticker activity
  • To encourage active participation, reasoning, and simple oral responses

Students will be able to

  • Select and place the correct clothing stickers for each scene
  • Say a simple weather sentence
  • Count weather symbols and recognize numbers 1–6

1. Warm-Up

Hello Song · “How are you?” · “How’s the weather today?” · Day of the week check

2. Workbook pg 6-7 — Story

  • Review weather words (hot, rainy, snowy, windy) by placing the correct clothing stickers on each character.
  • a) Read the captions together: “It is hot.” “It is rainy.” “It is snowy.” “It’s windy.”
  • b) Students choose and place the correct clothing stickers on each character according to the weather shown in the window.
  • c) After placing the stickers, students say the weather sentence aloud: “It is hot.” “It is rainy.”
  • d) The teacher circulates and checks that the clothing matches the weather. Brief oral feedback is given as needed.

3. Skills — Numbers: 5, 6 (Student Book pg 22)

  • Students count weather symbols and connect quantity with numbers through coloring and tracing.
  • a) Students look at each picture and identify the weather symbols.
  • b) Students count how many weather symbols they see in each picture.
  • c) Students color the same number of symbols in the box below and trace the matching number.

4. Activity (Numbers: 5, 6) — Safe Islands

  • Objective: students form groups matching the specific number called (1-6) by helping each other find an island area.
  • Materials: hula hoops.
  • a) Place multiple hula hoops (islands) across the classroom floor to encourage spatial distribution.
  • b) Play upbeat music or the Let’s Chant song. Students move freely between the islands as if swimming in the ocean.
  • c) Stop the music and shout a number clearly: “Number 5!” (1-6).
  • d) Students rush to the nearest island to form a group of the requested size. If a student is left over, the teacher assists them in joining a group so that no one is excluded.

5. Wrap up

  • Finish the class with the weather song — “How’s The Weather? | ft. the Super Simple Puppets”.
