Preview external pages before class. They open in a new tab and may need internet or show provider content.
- Walking Walking · movement song ↗Use before seated book work. Model actions in place.
- Starfall ABCs · letter exploration ↗Choose the lesson’s letter with your class. Best after introducing its sound.
- British Council · word games ↗Select the topic first; reading tasks need teacher help for beginners.
Our games add oral practice to the curriculum. They do not measure a child’s English level.

2. Story Review and Skills
W1 P3Read Together 2 + Story Review
Lesson Goals
- To reinforce the story and its themes whilst practicing and reviewing the vocabulary we have already learned and putting it into use
- To continue with the second half of the story and assist the students in piecing together the clues to help find Boogi, exercising their comprehension and analytical skillsets
- Students will gain confidence using English in a fun, collaborative context by singing, chanting, and acting out story scenes
Students will be able to
- Review the first half of the story, recalling the characters and previously revealed information about Boogi’s whereabouts
- Finish the second half of the story to find Boogi’s whereabouts and learn Boogi’s emotions, feelings and motivations for the disappearance
- Successfully participate in a story reenactment by acting out character roles and responding with the correct target phrases (“No, Tigo sees Boogi’s FOOTPRINTS,” “Roo HEARD Boogi’s wings”)
1. Warm-Up
Hello Song · “How are you?” · “How’s the weather today?” · Day of the week check
3. Student Book pg 8 — vocabulary review
- Review target vocabulary through actions and explanations.
4. Story Review
- “What can Tigo do?” (Expect “SEE”.) “What can Roo do?” (Expect “HEAR”.) “What did Hoggy find?” (Expect “Boogi’s favorite snack”.)
- Ask general questions about the friends’ search to find Boogi: “What did Roo hear?” “Who found Boogi’s shoe?”
5. Story Continuation (Student Book page 20-25)
- Open to page 20-21. Before reading the text, focus on the illustrations. Go through each page (20-25), one at a time.
- For each picture, ask open-ended questions: “What do you see in this picture?” “What is Jindo doing?” “Why is Boogi scared?” “Where did the friends find Boogi?” “What did Boogi do after the friends found Boogi? How did they find Boogi?” (Using their 5 senses.)
- Reinforce vocabulary: look at the vocabulary on each page before you do the reading. The students will practice sight words by doing this.
- pg 20: Look at the picture and ask what Jindo can do. What sense is she using? What did Jindo find?
- pg 24-25: Look at the picture of the baseball stadium and characters. Ask the students if they know what game Boogi is playing. What is happening? How is Boogi feeling now? Who is there at the baseball game?
- Allow them to engage as a whole so they don’t feel pressured to speak.
6. Story reenactment
- a) Assign characters to different students (give everyone a chance) and physically act out the story. Have lots of enthusiasm and encourage the students to be enthusiastic and have fun.
- b) Have the students that are not acting out the story be other people attending the baseball game.
- c) When the students act out the scene you’ll ask the class “What did Otto see? Did he see Boogi’s footprints?”
- d) Students will answer Yes or No. If NO, they will then say “No, Tigo saw Boogi’s footprints.” “Hoggy found Boogi’s favorite snack.” “Roo HEARD Boogi’s wings.”
7. Wrap up with the Chant (Student Book pg 9)
- Relate each sentence to the story.
W1 P4Workbook (Story) + Numbers
Lesson Goals
- To promote listening comprehension and physical engagement through a fun and interactive numbers game
Students will be able to
- Match and identify the correct images to their respective sentences from the story and place the images in story order
- Recognize, pronounce, and read aloud the numbers 1 to 20 accurately
- Practice their numbers by playing a game that requires them to count, say, listen and write their numbers
1. Warm-Up
Hello Song · “How are you?” · “How’s the weather today?” · Day of the week check
1. Workbook pg 5-6 — Story activity
- a) Go to workbook page 5 and have a look at the sentences. Have them point to the image they think best suits the prompt, then have them circle it in their books. Read the sentences together and excitedly encourage the students to select and choose the correct option.
- b) Workbook pg 6. Have the students colour and number the images in the correct chronological order based on the story. Encourage individual work; when everyone is complete go through the answers together. Discuss what is happening in each image.
2. Numbers 1-20
- c) Ask them if they know what these numbers are before you go over it all together.
- d) Focus on each number at a time and the pronunciation thereof. Break the number into two separate pronunciations to make it easier. Example: first focus on saying the number 1, practice it enough times that everyone is comfortable saying and recognising it. Do the same with 2-9. After that go to the double digit numbers, 11-20.
- e) After practicing the numbers separately, join them together. Explain that the numbers are together so they are one and must be said together. Then go over each number and have the students repeat after you.
- f) To make things fun and interesting, write the numbers on the board and point to a number. Have the students say that number, increase the speed or slow it down to increase the fun.
3. Numbers Relay Game
- b) If they manage to get it correct, the entire team will get a point.
- c) When the round is finished, the first student will move to the end of the line and the game will begin again. Students keep shifting down the line till everyone has had an opportunity to be a seer, whisperer and writer at least once.
- d) Play the game with all the students together as one team first. Then depending on how well they are grasping the concepts, you can proceed to make it more of a competitive relay game — split the students into 2 lines and have them race to count, whisper and write the correct number on the board first.
