Feel It, Say It!

2. Introduce Characters (Student Book pg 4-5)

• a) Introduce Boogi: “This is Boogi,” and have students repeat the name. Ask about Tigo: show Tigo and ask “What animal is Tigo?”, providing hints if needed. Introduce Otto: “Do you know Otto the otter?” then clarify “Otto is an otter,” and have students repeat. Review: point to each character and ask “Who is this?”
• b) Briefly read about the characters to reinforce who they are. Ask questions to engage them: “Who likes to surf?” “Who is a food YouTuber?” “What is Tigo searching for?”

3. Introduce the story and theme (Student Book pg. 7)

• Show them the picture and ask: “Who is this character?” “Where are they now?” “What are they doing?” “Do you like the playground?” “How does Tigo feel?”

4. Introduction to vocabulary (Student Book pg. 8)

• a) Vocabulary Introduction. Clearly pronounce the target words and have students repeat. When saying these words, act out the feeling on your face in an exaggerated way.
• b) Comprehension Check. Ask students if they know the meaning of the words. Encourage explanations in simple English.
• c) Physical Demonstration. Use gestures or actions to illustrate the meaning of each word. Create brief scenarios to contextualize the vocabulary.
• d) Contextual Repetition. “Tigo is scared to go down the slide.” “Hoggy is angry.” “Boogi and their friends have many feelings.” Have students repeat each sentence.
• e) Personal Connection. “How do you feel?” “What makes you happy?” “What makes you angry or sad?”
• f) Interactive Practice. Have the class repeat the word several times together. Ask students to practice saying the word to a partner.

5. Introducing the chant (Student book pg. 9)

• “Now, we’re going to chant about our feelings! Listen carefully!” Say the chant with enthusiasm. Pause after each sentence and have students repeat the words. Repeat — you can chant faster or slower so that students can have fun.

• Review target vocabulary through actions and explanations. Get students to circle the word that you say.

2. Story Time

• a) Character Introduction. Before opening the book: “Today, we’re going to read a fun story about our feelings! Let’s meet the characters!” Introduce each main character (Jindo, Boogi, Roo, Otto, Hoggy, Tigo), using pictures or puppets if available. Ask simple questions: “What’s this character’s name?” “What is their favorite place?”
• b) Read Story (pgs 10-21). Open to page 10. Before reading the text, focus on the illustrations. Go through each page (10-21), one at a time. For each picture, ask open-ended questions: “What do you see in this picture?” “Where are they?” (Prompt by asking “Are they in a park? Do you know this park’s name?”) “How does ______ feel?”
• Reinforce vocabulary: pg 10-11 “Roo is on fire, how does Roo feel?” pg 12-13 “Tigo has cold feet, how does Tigo feel?” pg 14-15 “Jindo has butterflies in their stomach, how does Jindo feel?” … etc.
• Allow them to engage as a whole so they don’t feel pressured to speak — this should improve engagement.

3. Interactive Reading — Student Book

• Read the story aloud, one page at a time. Read slowly and clearly. Pause after each sentence or short phrase. Have students repeat after you: “Let’s play!” (Encourage enthusiastic voices.)
