- Walking Walking · movement song ↗Use before seated book work. Model actions in place.
- Starfall ABCs · letter exploration ↗Choose the lesson’s letter with your class. Best after introducing its sound.
- British Council · word games ↗Select the topic first; reading tasks need teacher help for beginners.
Our games add oral practice to the curriculum. They do not measure a child’s English level.

2. Story Review and Skills
W1 P3Story Review
Lesson Goals
- Review story sequence and safety actions
- Students will understand the importance of playing together
- Students will review all safety actions in order
Students will be able to
- Respond to greeting, weather, and day-of-the-week questions using complete sentences
- Identify and use the target vocabulary by describing pictures, answering comprehension questions, and completing reading prompts
- Demonstrate understanding of the story by answering simple questions about the characters, setting, and events, and by participating in a group reenactment using key phrases and actions
1. Warm-Up
Hello Song · “How are you?” · “How’s the weather today?” · Day of the week check
3. Student Book pg 8 — vocabulary review
- Review target vocabulary through actions and explanations.
4. Story Review
- a) The teacher says: “Let’s look at the story again and remember what happened.”
- b) Open the Student Book to page 10 and go through each page until page 23. pg 20-21: “Tigo wants to go alone, what should Tigo do first?” (Guide students to count how many friends are swimming.) pg 22-23: Read together: “Now we ARE ready.” / “Let’s play safe.”
- c) For each page, ask key questions: “What did Roo do before jumping in?” (Expect “Roo warmed up first”.) “What did Jindo check before swimming far?” (Expect “Checked the flags”.) “What did Boogi do before surfing?” (Expect “Checked the sky”.) “What did Hoggy do before diving?” (Expect “Had a rest”.)
- d) Ask general questions about the friends’ trip to the beach: “What can you find at the beach?” “Is there sand at the beach?”
5. Story reenactment
- a) Assign characters to different students and physically act out the story.
- d) Students will answer Yes or No. If No they will then say “No, Roo must warm up first.” “Hoggy should have a rest.” “Jindo should check the flags first.”
7. Play hot potato
- Students pass a ball while music plays. When music stops, student answers: “What should you do first?”
- a) Get the students to gather in a circle. b) Start with one student holding a ball. c) Play some music; while the music is playing the students throw the ball to each other. d) Stop the music at random; the student holding the ball when the music stops is out and has to sit down. e) Repeat until there is only one student remaining.
8. Wrap up with the Chant (Student Book pg 9)
- a) Relate each sentence to the story. b) “Who should watch out?” c) Have the students stand up while singing and encourage them to move their bodies.
W1 P4Workbook (Story) + Story Book (Skills)
Lesson Goals
- To strengthen students’ understanding of story content and descriptive vocabulary through workbook activities that require selecting correct answers and matching characters with their actions
- To build students’ knowledge of safety rules through guided practice, pronunciation support, and interactive stickers
Students will be able to
- Choose correct answers in the workbook story activity and correctly match each character with their actions
- Review numbers and sequencing through problem-solving
- Respond and participate in movement-based games using safety language
1. Warm-Up
Hello Song · “How are you?” · “How’s the weather today?” · Day of the week check
1. Workbook pg 5-6 — Sticker activity
- a) Look at the text and picture and stick the right sticker showing an X sign or a thumbs up.
- b) Explain to the students what each sticker signifies.
2. Number the surfboards (Student Book pg. 24)
- a) Go to the student book pg. 24.
- b) Explain to the students that they need to write the correct numbers on the surfboards and then draw a line to the correct character.
3. Safety actions game
- a) Make sure every student has completed their surfboard page. Review the safety procedures with the class: the teacher asks a question and responds with a safety measure and an action. E.g. “Can I jump in now I’m ready?” “Wait, let’s warm up first” — the teacher then does a warming up action (stretching etc). Do this a few times.
- You can also choose a student to be the traffic controller and they will shout out the questions.
- d) Finish the game by reviewing the safety measures again as a class. Ask: “What should you do before jumping in?” “What should you do before diving?” Praise the students for following directions and speaking English.
4. Wrap-up
- Finish the class with the Goodbye song.
