Lesson Goals
- To reinforce safety expressions through story review
- To help students apply safety language to real-life situations
Students will be able to
- Recognize unsafe situations in the story and say the correct safety phrase
- Connect safety phrases to real-life contexts
- Create a simple safety poster
1. Warm-Up
Hello Song · “How are you?” · “How’s the weather today?” · Day of the week check
2. Story Review (Student Book pg 10-19)
- a) Reinforce the vocabulary on each page: “Tigo is climbing the fence. Do you think he is safe?”
- b) After going through the story and explaining the target vocabulary, read and repeat the story with the students, focusing on any words they might have difficulty with. “What should we say to Otto?” “Let’s practice saying ‘Watch out!’ together.”
- c) Relate the story to the students as you go along. “Do you run on the stairs at school?” “When do you need to slow down your bicycle?”
3. Activity (Story) — Safety Poster
- Objective: Students will select one of the four pre-printed posters and draw the matching dangerous situation to complete the safety poster.
- Materials: Teacher’s reference poster; pre-printed poster bases with “Watch out!”, “Get down!”, “Walk slow!” and “Slow down!” printed in bold, large fonts; colouring tools.
- a) Show teacher’s sample posters.
- b) Show the four types of pre-printed papers. Students choose the one phrase they want to work on and receive that paper.
- c) Ask “You chose ‘Walk slow!’. Where should we walk slow?” Students answer “Stairs!” before they start drawing.
- d) Students draw the matching scene.
4. Wrap-up
- Review target words with the [Let’s Chant] song, then finish the class with the Goodbye song.

2. Workbook pg 6-7 — Story
- a) Look at the text and picture and stick Boogi showing an X sign or a thumbs up.
- b) Explain to the students what each sticker signifies.
3. Skills — Numbers: 3, 4 (Student Book pg 22)
- The guide prints “pg 22”; the book puts Skills on page 20 and Make Together on 22.
- Objective: Students find safety items, the number 3, and the number 4 hidden in the picture.
- Mission checklist (bottom of the page): Helmet, Knee pad, Seat belt, 3, 4.
- a) Announce the “Hidden Picture Mission” to build excitement and focus. “Look at the list! We need to find the hidden things.” “Helmet, Knee pad, Seat belt, and numbers 3 and 4!”
- b) Students scan the image, circle the items, and check them off their list.
4. Activity (Numbers 1-4) — Clap & Freeze
- Students listen and respond to the teacher’s cue. When the teacher says a number (1-4), students clap that many times. When the teacher says “Zero!”, students don’t clap.
- Gradually increase the speed to make the game more exciting. Assist them in joining a group so that no one is excluded.

- Review target words with the [Let’s Chant] song, then finish the class with the Goodbye song.
