Lesson Goals

  • To review the story and reinforce target vocabulary
  • To encourage students to express their own preferences

Students will be able to

  • Answer simple questions about the story
  • Follow verbal instructions accurately during the game
  • Introduce themselves and state a personal preference using the sentence pattern “I am (Name), and I like to (action).”

1. Warm-Up

Hello Song · “How are you?” · “How’s the weather today?” · Day of the week check

2. Story Review (Student Book pg 10-19)

  • a) The teacher says: “Let’s look at the story again and remember what happened.”
  • b) Open the Student Book to page 10 and go through each page until page 23.
  • c) For each page, ask key questions related to the pictures and events: “What is Otto doing?” (Expect “Otto is swimming”.) “What does Roo like to do?” (Expect “draw”.) “What does Hoggy like to do?” (Expect “eat”.)

3. Activity 1 (Vocabulary) — Simon Says

  • Objective: Students practice listening carefully while reviewing the unit’s action verbs (swim, draw, eat, dig, read).
  • Rules: The teacher is “Simon”. Simon gives commands using the target verbs. Students should only do the action if the command begins with “Simon says…”. If not, they must stay still.
  • “Simon says, swim!” → Students pretend to swim. “Simon says, draw!” → Students pretend to draw. “Eat!” → Students do not move.
  • a) Start with the five target verbs only. b) Mix “Simon says” and “no-Simon” commands to check listening. c) Use clear gestures and begin slowly, then increase speed. d) Once students are confident, add a few extra actions.
  • Optional extra actions (end of the game): jump, clap, run, stretch, spin.

4. Activity 2 (Story) — “I Like” Sticker Relay

  • Objective: Students introduce themselves and their personal preferences using “I am (Name), and I like to (Action).”
  • Materials: thumbs-up or heart-shaped stickers (2-3 each); large images or flashcards of Otto, Roo, Hoggy, Jindo and Tigo performing their actions.
  • a) Each student receives a sticker.
  • b) The first student walks to the wall, puts the sticker next to a character, and says, “I am (Name), and I like to (Action)!”
  • c) The student points to a friend to go next, and the relay continues until all stickers are used.

5. Wrap-up

  • Review target words with the [Let’s Chant] song, then finish the class with the Goodbye song.

Lesson Goals

  • To introduce and reinforce the shape circle

Students will be able to

  • Answer simple questions about the story
  • Identify and trace circle shapes
  • Find and point to real-life objects that are circle-shaped

1. Warm-Up

Hello Song · “How are you?” · “How’s the weather today?” · Day of the week check

2. Workbook pg 6-7 — Story

  • a) Have the students fold and match the characters to the sentences.
  • b) Ask them about the story, “What does Otto like to do?” Ask them questions like who is your favorite character.

3. Skills — Shapes: Circle (Student Book pg 24)

  • a) Point to the big circle in a box and say: “This is a circle. A round circle!” Have students trace a big circle in the air with their finger.
  • b) Point to Otto’s face. “Let’s find the circles!” Students carefully trace the five circles on Otto’s face (the big face outline + cheeks + eyes).
  • c) Ask: “How many circles?” Guide students to answer “Five circles!” Count together slowly, pointing to each circle as they trace again.

4. Activity (Shapes) — Circle Hunter

  • Objective: Students identify circles in real-life objects around them.
  • a) Teacher says: “Let’s find circles around us!”
  • b) Students look around their desks and classroom to find objects with circle shapes (bottle cap, ball, clock, etc.).
  • c) Teacher says: “Point to your circle!” Students point to the circle they found.
  • d) Call on a few students to share.

5. Wrap-up

  • Review target words with the [Let’s Chant] song, then finish the class with the Goodbye song.
