Lesson Goals

To help students recognize and talk about their friends through a hands-on craft activity

Students will be able to

2. Make Together — Meet My Flower Friends (Student Book pg 26)

The craft involves creating a flower by decorating petal templates and revealing friends’ faces, promoting social bonding and fine motor skills.
The teacher introduces the craft and demonstrates each step, doing it together with the students and providing help where necessary.
a) Guide students to prepare the 5-petal flower paper and the face printed sheet.
b) Encourage students to colour the faces of their friends and themselves on the printed sheet beautifully.
c) Help students glue the 5-petal coloured paper over the face sheet so the petals can fold and open to reveal the faces.
d) Demonstrate how to attach the mini-bow to the centre to complete the flower.
e) Show students how to open each petal and say the names of their friends aloud.

3. Show and tell

Have a show and tell where students can introduce their craft to their friends. Focus on simple phrases. Be sure to congratulate them afterwards and get the other students to applaud so that they don’t feel nervous showing their craft.

4. Wrap-up

Review target words with the [Let’s Chant] song, then finish the class with the Goodbye song.

2. Storybook Review (Student Book pg 27)

a) The teacher introduces the sticker board and shows the stickers.
b) Guide students to place the correct sticker in each box.
c) After placing each sticker, students say the expressions aloud: like, swim, draw, eat, dig, read.

3. Workbook pg 10 — Review

Have a look at the picture and find the differences. Discuss with the students afterwards and ask them questions such as: “What is Otto doing?” “What is Roo drawing?” “Look, what is Hoggy doing?”
Answers: Beach Umbrella / Hoggy’s Object / Sand Drawing.

4. Workbook pg 11 — Review

Circle the odd one out. Ask them questions such as: “What is the odd one out doing?” “What should they be doing?”

5. Activity 1 (Vocabulary) — Add Vocabulary game

a) Students sit or stand in a circle. The teacher holds a ball or soft toy at the start.
b) Teacher names a vocabulary word (or shows a flashcard).
c) The student holding the ball when it is called must say the word out loud and pass the ball to the next student.
d) Encourage fun voices or gestures for each word.

6. Activity 2 (Vocabulary) — Draw and guess

Objective: Students review target vocabulary and phonics words by identifying them through drawings and participating in a turn-taking game.
Materials: Word Cards.
a) One student comes to the front of the class and picks a secret word card (target or phonics word).
b) The student draws a picture representing the word on the whiteboard without speaking.
c) The rest of the class looks at the drawing and tries to guess the word.
d) The student who correctly guesses gets the next opportunity to come to the front and draw the next card.

7. Wrap-up

Review target words with the [Let’s Chant] song, then finish the class with the Goodbye song.
